Public Consultation

In 2017 Ashall Projects were granted outline planning permission for five Grade A commercial office buildings with associated ancillary and public realm, totalling 210,000sqft which would bring approximately 1,500 skilled employees to the town. One and Two Centre Square were completed in summer 2019 and are now over 85% let.

Ashall Projects have now redeveloped the masterplan following the acquisition of the former Melrose House site, which is to be redeveloped and become the site of Six Centre Square, subject to a full planning application.

The updated masterplan now links Borough Road to Centre Square with the additions of buildings six and seven, with the proposal for building four acting as a gateway when approached from the A66 and Corporation Road. The centre of the site focuses on linking the recently completed buildings with the existing Centre Square, whilst enhancing the landscaping and wider public realm. This area has been revised to create one larger building on the footprint of building three, with the exclusion of building five. This has resulted in additional area to be given over to public realm, with a focus on collaboration, a place to meet and a potential event space for the wider community with the inclusion of a digital screen suspended from the building with appropriate urban seating.
